      We started operating a national GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) cellular network in October 1992. Vodafone Portugal’s mobile communications network serves around 100% of the population of mainland Portugal and the Azores and Madeira Autonomous Regions.

Abroad, we provide the mobile communications service to our customers through agreements with hundreds of operators in hundreds of countries on all continents.


We have access to the best service using the most advanced technologies and innovative international services. Our customers are able to use Vodafone services abroad exactly as if they were in Portugal. The Vodafone community covers over 70 countries (30 with Vodafone operators and over 40 with partner networks).

Vodafone offers very economical, transparent and predictable roaming tariffs for all types of communications – voice calls, messaging, mobile Internet access or mobile broadband. With the Vodafone Travel tariff, available on Vodafone’s and subscribing affiliates’ networks, customers can also benefit from very significant savings on standard rates.
