Telecel introduces new IT application on the distribution network management

The growth of cellular communications market in the areas of consumption leads to a permanent management and development of Telecel’s distribution network, mainly composed by stores and points of sale of its Distributors. Managing such high number of stores and points of sale, which involves a high level of administration work, depends on a solid support to the distribution channels – critical factor for an efficient maintenance of a high business service.

For Telecel, raising the business service quality offered to its distribution channels, as well as focusing on offering efficient resources supported by a low investment, represents a continuous challenge. Telecel faces that challenge by searching and permanently introducing new solutions that even though are exclusively for internal use have a wider interest because they use state of the art technology.

Within this category we can mention «Webmodule» in the application SAP R3, recently introduced in supporting Telecel Distributors business. Through this module a set of functions was implemented, such as:

Products and services electronic catalogue, for price reference and technical specifications. This catalogue can also be printed to be delivered to the Customer during the sale process and can be accessed for recent information about terminals and accessories, all this straight from the manufacturer site;

Electronic order, automatically starting the logistics process;

Information about the orders situation;

Access to current account.

Implementing these features can be translated in practical terms as a decrease of the time spent to issue an order, availability of information and business support, and the highest quality of the administration «back office».

The adherence of Telecel business partners was significant and almost the entire distribution network is using this application. The power of SAP R3, ease of use of the developed solution, support «on the job» available at the start, support line and low investment, are some of the factors contributing for this success.

According to António Vaz Branco, Vice-President of Telecel, the «Webmodule» from SAP R3 application “represents the way of winning an important step for supporting management of the indirect network, reducing costs and processes time”.

José Duarte, Country Manager of SAP Portugal, says that “SAP, by developing Web solutions, wants to offer its customers, namely Telecel, tools that allow them to widen the business processes of SAP R3 beyond its frontiers and, above all, better face the big challenges placed by Internet”.
