Telecel tested successfully its network equipment and information systems, having in mind the called Year 2000 bug with a simulation made in the nights of 30th to 31st July, in the Azores.

The simulation of transition to year 2000 started at 11:20 PM July 30, had no negative impact in communications, that continued working normally, without Customers noticing the operation taking place.

All network equipment and information systems worked regularly. Systems of communications rating and invoicing were also successfully tested.

This simulation will end a wide assessment process over the impacts of the problem and extensive tests, started in Telecel October 1997, aiming at avoiding eventual problems caused by the end of century information bug and to assure all systems, equipment and products are compliant with specifications for year 2000.
