As of August 27, Telecel Cellular Broadcast has become available in all national territory, with its expansion to the districts of Évora, Portalegre and Setúbal, besides the Northeast area of Lisbon.

Telecel is the only Portuguese operator to supply this Service that allows the receiving of information about specific themes, as well as information on limited geographical areas, in the handset display allowing the content to be customised according with the areas where the Customer is located. The content of the information depends not only on the location where it is received but also on the selected channel.

This is a pilot project initially launched in June 1998 in Lisbon, and which was afterwards used for broadcasting information over activities in Expo 98. This service was widened in September of the same year, through the offer of information on pharmacies open 24 hours, and expanded to the outskirts of Lisbon and Oporto. Afterwards, the service was broadened to other regions and new information channels were opened.

This is a totally free service for all Telecel Customers and all the foreigner visitors roaming in our country can also use it, if registered in Telecel network. Its availability in all national territory, that is now a reality, represents an important milestone in the evolution of a very useful service for the cellular communications Customers.
