New service enables users to listen to e-mails
As from today, Vodafone customers will be able to take advantage of a new technical function in the Vodafone Mail Service. The E-mail To Speech feature enables Customers to listen to e-mails in Portuguese on their mobile phones.
This new function is part of Vodafone’s Unified Messaging service – the Vodafone Mail Service – and employs Text to Speech technology, now made available for the first time in Portugal. When customers are alerted to the arrival of an e-mail, they can call 123 and listen to the text of the message.
With this service, customers have the opportunity to combine all their voice messages, faxes and e-mails in a unified box and access them from their PC or mobile phone.
The Vodafone Mail Service, available under regular tariff plans, has a monthly subscription of 1.25 and can be activated by calling Customer Support Services on 16912.
