Vodafone launches new Mobile TV channels

Lisbon, 17 July 2006 – Vodafone has expanded its Mobile TV offer with the mobile version of 4 popular channels: Canal História, Biography Channel, Sol Música Internacional and Canal Hollywood.

The Mobile History Channel offers a selection of the best documentaries and is the only channel exclusively dedicated to world history. The Mobile Biography Channel has a selection of the best biographies of famous and charismatic personalities. The Mobile Hollywood Channel offers a selection of the best award-winning films and ‘shorts’. Sol Música Internacional Mobile offers a selection of the best international music videoclips.

Vodafone recently expanded its range of children’s channels, making it the most complete on the market: Panda, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr and Cartoon Network Mobile. The Panda and Nick Jr channels are available for the first time in Portugal on the Vodafone live! 3G portal. The Panda channel is recognised as the audience leader in children’s channels in Portugal. Nickelodeon’s animated programming, specially created for very young children, includes quality cartoon series that have won awards worldwide, such as Dora and Diogo, who encourage children to learn English through their adventures. Cartoon Network Mobile includes some of children’s favourites such as Powerpuff Girls.

The present Mobile TV offer includes 24 channels broadcast 24 hours a day on the Vodafone live! 3G mobile portal: RTP, SIC, TVI, MTV Music, MTV Snacks, Sol Música Internacional Mobile, Panda, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Cartoon Network Mobile, Eurosport, Chili TV, UEFA Champions League, Euronews, CNN International, Discovery Mobile, Odisseia, História Mobile, Biography Channel Mobile, Hollywood Mobile, 24 (Fox), Fashion TV, Playboy TV (Premium) and Blue (Premium).

At the same time as introducing new channels, Vodafone is giving away the first month’s access to new subscribers to its Mobile TV service.

The current forms of access to the Mobile TV service are a monthly subscription of 7.5 euros (with the first month free to new subscribers) and 24 hours’ access for 0.9 euros. Both options provide unlimited access to all channels (except Premium channels) for a month or 24 hours, respectively. Premium channels are charged separately at a price of 2.5 euros for 2 hours.
