Lisbon, 7 March 2007 – Vodafone today launched a new solution for the TeleMultibanco service which enables users to access a wide range of operations available on Multibanco ATMs from their mobile phones. This mobile phone solution reproduces the customer experience, both in the visual aspect, with screens identical to those on Multibanco ATMs, and in the mode of use and navigation, using the phone’s lateral buttons and normal cursor navigation.

Following a survey of current users of the TeleMultibanco service, Vodafone has developed a solution based on Java language and with WAP access, making it simpler to use. It also uses the session concept to facilitate use for those who perform more than one operation or have more than one account on the same access. Finally, and similar also to what happens on Multibanco ATMs, the concept of ‘Mobile Advertising’ has been introduced during the transaction waiting times.

Special attention has been paid to the order in which options are presented, prioritising those that are most used by customers. The operations available at present are mobile top-ups, balance queries, payment of services, account movements queries, transfers between accounts and view bank account number (NIB), among others. When an operation is completed, the customer can opt to receive a confirmation slip by SMS.

To start to use the service, customers merely need to install the application in their phones in one of the following ways: i) by sending an SMS containing the text TMB to 12345 and following the link displayed; ii) following the link on the Vodafone live! portal; or iii) phoning the TeleMultibanco helpline (1701).

The service supports activation of a maximum of 5 accounts, and it is possible to configure a preferred account for entering the application. Download of the application, activation of the service, menu navigation and topping up the prepaid card are free of charge. All other transactions cost €0.30 and each confirmation SMS costs €0.05.
