Vodafone Portugal offers roaming on the networks of 400 operators

Lisbon, 10 September 2007 – Vodafone Portugal customers are currently able to use their phones on the networks of 400 mobile telecommunications operators in 195 countries and autonomous territories on all continents.

Customers with 3G/UMTS phones can already use them abroad on the networks of 55 operators in 39 countries. The 3.5G/HSDPA roaming service is available on the networks of 19 operators in 18 countries. For customers who make GPRS calls, Vodafone has GPRS roaming agreements with 183 operators in 99 countries around the world.

The most recent destinations where it is possible to use the Vodafone Portugal service are the Bahamas, Bonaire, Curaçao, Gambia, Haiti, Lesotho, Liberia, Kyrgyzstan, Samoa, Sierra Leone and Zambia.

An at-sea roaming service is also available, enabling mobile phones to be used on board ships and ferries, with coverage provided by Cingular, Manx Telecom, Telecom Itália, MCP and Vodafone Malta.

Since 1 September, Vodafone Portugal has also provided its voice (GSM) and data (GPRS) services on board Air France aircrafts following signature of a roaming agreement with the operator On-Air. This service is due to be expanded to aircrafts of bmi, Ryanair and TAP during the next six months.

Thanks to these agreements, Vodafone is reinforcing its leadership position in terms of numbers of roaming agreements, available destinations and services offered.
