Vodafone Portugal’s service revenue increases by 4.6% in the 1st half of 2008

Lisbon, 11 November 2008 – Vodafone Portugal service revenue amounted to 698 million euros in the first half (April to September) of 2008, an increase of 4.6% over last year. Total revenue was 763 million euros, an increase of 3.2% on the previous year.

Vodafone Portugal’s EBITDA and operating profit also grew significantly, by 7.1% and 10.8% respectively compared with the previous year, to 294 and 199 million euros in the first six months (April to September) of 2008.

Vodafone Portugal won 339 thousand new customers between January 2008 and September 2008, of which 183 thousand were added in the last quarter (July to September). On 30 September 2008 Vodafone had a customer base of 5.450 million registered customers in Portugal, a 9.9% growth in the last year.

The Vodafone Group announced today an increase in its worldwide customer base to approximately 280 million proportionate customers and total revenue and adjusted operating profit of 19.9 and 5.8 billion pounds sterling (approximately 25.1 and 7.3 billion euros), respectively, in the six months ended 30 September 2008. Vodafone Group currently has equity interests in 27 countries across five continents and over 40 partner networks worldwide, and has a stock market capitalisation of around 75.5 billion euros.
