Vodafone revamps prepaid Mobile Broadband service

Lisbon, 15 December 2008 – Vodafone has changed the access conditions for the prepaid Mobile Broadband service in Portugal – Vita Net. The changes mainly concern increasing the days of use and traffic volume and doubling the speed.

As this service is ideal for those who need to use the Internet occasionally, for example when on holiday or away for the weekend, or on any other sporadic occasion, Vodafone has now made it available abroad. Roaming access to the service is already possible with 18 operators and countries.

Now, for a top-up of 10 euros, Vita Net offers access to Vodafone’s Mobile Broadband service for 12 days (previously 10), 400 MB of included traffic (as opposed to 300 MB and 40 free SMS to any mobile network. The offered speed is now 1.0 Mbps (compared with 512 Kbps previously).

For every additional 5 euros, the access period will increase by 6 days, up to 200 MB, and the customer will get 20 additional SMS. So, a customer who buys a top-up of 25 euros will be able to use the service for 30 days with 1GB of traffic included.

To use the Vita Net service, customers simply need to purchase a Vodafone Connect Pen and Vita Net Card set, including 10 days’ Mobile Broadband Internet access included, for 89.90 euros or just a Vita Net Card, also with 10 days’ Internet access included, for just 14.90 euros. In either case there is no loyalty period involved.

Vodafone continues to expand and improve its range of products and services for Mobile Broadband, after becoming the first operator and Portugal and among the first in the world to offer its customers prepaid Mobile Broadband on 21 August this year.
