Vodafone brings the beach to the mobile phone
Lisbon, 8 July 2008 – Vodafone has created a new service designed mainly for the surfing community but which does not neglect other beachgoers’ needs. Vodafone SurfReport, available on the Vodafone live! portal, incorporates a variety of key information in a single service, such as the weather forecast, information of the state of the waves, tides and winds, and general views of beaches from live cams.
This is the first service of its kind in Portugal which, with the help of the SurfReport website, will provide 9 online cameras in this launch phase showing conditions on the following beaches: Carcavelos, Costa de Caparica, Ericeira, Guincho, Peniche, Praia Grande, S. Torpes, Santa Cruz and Zambujeira do Mar.
By the end of the year it is expected that the Vodafone SurfReport service will be available on around 20 beaches in mainland Portugal and the Autonomous Regions.
Customers can subscribe to the service on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Customers who opt for daily access will be charged 50 cents for a 24 hour period. The cost of a weekly subscription will be 99 cents for 7 days. The price of the monthly option is 2.99 euros with use of the service free for the first month.
