Vodafone unveils next generation of mobile phone games

Lisbon, 2 September 2008 – Vodafone Portugal customers can now experience a new way of playing games on their mobile phones. With the new generation of games, Vodafone is offering its customers a more advanced gaming experience using new technologies such as motion sensor, high definition graphics and touch screens, characteristics that are increasingly available on phones coming onto the market.

Games are the most popular content with customers on the Vodafone live! portal and Vodafone is committed to bringing to the mobile market the innovations that are appearing on new generation game consoles.

These new games, combined with the latest mobile phones, allow gamers to enjoy new ways of playing that they have never before experienced. The mobile phone is not just the platform on which the game unfolds but is also an essential element for playing it, enabling people of all ages to discover new forms of amusement.

Motion Sensor
Vodafone is offering the first generation of games that can be played using the phone itself as a joystick. Vodafone customers have the opportunity to experience titles such as Asphalt 4, Midnight Bowling and Luxor on the Sony Ericsson w910i and other phones that offer this capability.

High Definition (HD)
Developed to make the most of all the capabilities of mobile phones, these titles enable users to enjoy high quality graphics and sound. These games can be played on leading brands of mobile phones with the Symbian operating system such as the Nokia 6630, Nokia 6680, Nokia N70, N73, N80, N81 and N95, and include titles like Asphalt 4 HD, Assassin’s Creed HD and Crash Nitro Kart.

Touch Screens
Vodafone has also launched a list of games developed specially for phones with touch screens. Games such as Cake Mania, Burger Rush, Platinum Solitaire, Little Shop of Treasures and Diamond, among others, allow the player to use a finger or stylus to control moves in the game, so making them even more fun. These titles are already available for the Samsung F700, LG KS20, LG KE850, Sony Ericsson P1 and Sony Ericsson M600i phones.

The new generation games are available in the ‘Next-Gen’ category of the Games channel of the Vodafone live! portal, where they join over 500 games of all categories offered by Vodafone Portugal.
