The building that accommodates the Head Office of Vodafone Portugal, located in the Parque das Nações, was awarded the Prémio Valmor e Municipal de Arquitectura 2005 (Valmor and Municipal Architecture Prize 2005), by Lisbon Municipal Council.

The award-winning building, designed by architects Alexandre Burmester and José Carlos Cruz Gonçalves and constructed in 2002, played an important role in the urban redesign of the Parque das Nações zone, in Lisbon.

The Council explained that the award was attributed owing to the “architectural quality of the project, which significantly contributed to safeguarding and enriching the architectural heritage of Lisbon, which aims to be a modern, sustainable and cosmopolitan city”.

The building, which has become a reference point in the city of Lisbon, oozes in all its characteristics, the intrinsic concepts of Vodafone, such as innovation, quality and dynamism.

The Valmor Prize came about in fulfilment of the will of the Viscount of Valmor, Fausto Queiroz Guedes, and has been linked to the Municipal Architecture Prize since 1982, rewarding different kinds of buildings or landscape architecture.

Some of the buildings awarded the Valmor Prize in the past are the Rectory of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Manuel and Francisco Aires Mateus), the Portugal Pavilion (Siza Vieira) and the Knowledge Pavilion (João Luís Carrilho da Graça), both of which are also located in the Parque das Nações, the Amoreiras Shopping Centre (Tomás Taveira) and the Headquarters, gardens and museum of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (Ruy Athouguia, Alberto Pessoa, Pedro Cid, Gonçalo Ribeiro Teles and António Viana Barreto), among many others.
