Nokia Messaging from Vodafone is the new mobile e-mail access solution

Lisbon, 25 March 2009 – Vodafone today launched a new always-on mobile e-mail access service called Nokia Messaging from Vodafone.

The new Nokia Messaging e-mail service has a simple, functional interface that offers an intuitive, rich user experience that enables users to configure their e-mail easily from their mobile phone. Simultaneous administration of several e-mail accounts, immediate and continuous synchronisation between the phone and the e-mail server, and the capability to optimise “over the air” data transmission (in Portugal and abroad) are other features of this new solution.

Thanks to Push E-mail functionality, the Nokia Messaging e-mail service channels new messages immediately and automatically to the user’s mobile phone, at the same time as it efficiently forwards “heavier” e-mails and attachments, thereby avoiding downloading heavy content to the mobile phone, so ensuring more efficient management of data transmissions.

This new service is compatible with the e-mail services provided by the leading ISPs, including Gmail, Yahoo!, IOL, Clix, Netcabo, Sapo, Ovi, Vodafone and all e-mail services with POP3 or IMAP4 access. It will also shortly be available for Hotmail. The Nokia Messaging e-mail service can be used with the majority of Nokia phones, including the Nokia E65, Nokia E66, Nokia E71, Nokia E75, Nokia N73, Nokia N95 and Nokia N96 models, among others.

Nokia Messaging is accessible via Vodafone’s current Mobile E-mail and Internet monthly plan which, for only €6.36 a month, includes 100MB of data traffic and offers unlimited access to mobile e-mail within responsible limits. At the moment, Vodafone is enabling customers to try out its Mobile E-mail and Internet services free of charge (detailed information at www.vodafone.pt).

Vodafone, which pioneered the introduction of mobile e-mail and Internet access solutions in Portugal, continues to offer the widest range of services of this kind – BlackBerry, Windows Mobile E-mail, E-mail On Demand and now the new Nokia Messaging – responding effectively to the needs of different market segments.
