Vodafone and ANA launch mobile phone app with flight departure and arrival information

Lisbon, 12 July 2010 – Vodafone Portugal today launched an app for obtaining real time information about flight arrivals and departures at Portuguese airports. The application also allows users to search for flights or activate an SMS alert of flight status changes.

ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal, the authority that manages Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Ponta Delgada, Horta, Santa Maria and Flores airports, and ANAM – Aeroportos da Madeira, which manages Madeira and Porto Santo airports, provide the advisory service about the times and status of flights departing from and arriving at each of the nine airports. This information is now available on a mobile phone app available from the Vodafone 360 Apps Shop.

With this app, Vodafone customers can check the status of a particular flight quickly and intuitively from their mobile phone. They can also make restricted searches for a given company, time or flight and activate a flight status SMS alert – the ANA Infovoo service – directly from the app.

The app is available for a wide range of mobile phones, including the exclusive Vodafone 360 Samsung H1 and M1. Customers who do not yet have the Apps Shop installed on their mobile phone can register at www.360.com and search for the ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal app in the Shop’s ‘Travel and Navigation’ or ‘Utilities’ categories. The Mobile Shop and the app can be downloaded and installed free on compatible mobile phones from this page.

This joint initiative of Vodafone Portugal and ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal demonstrates the importance and effectiveness of apps as a way of distributing useful information when mobility and speed are critical factors for users.
