Portuguese company CardMobili wins international Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2010 contest

Lisbon, 27 September 2010 – Having been chosen to represent Portugal in the international Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2010 contest, the Portuguese company CardMobili (www.cardmobili.com), creator of the project of the same name, was the big winner of the final phase of this competition, which took place last Friday in the PICNIC festival, in Amsterdam. It was declared the winner, picking up €100 000 in prize money.

The Portuguese company was one of 160 participants in this international contest (www.vodafonemobileclicks.com), the largest of its kind in the world, which aims to find and reward the best Mobile Internet project created by a start-up. Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2010 took place in four European countries: Holland, Portugal, Spain and the UK.

Elected by a panel of experts from the mobile sector and an online poll, CardMobili conquered first prize thanks to its intuitive application that allows all the Customer Cards, Membership points and discount points that people usually accumulate in their wallet/purse to be brought together and used on the mobile phone. Helena Leite, CEO of CardMobili, said: “taking part in Vodafone Mobile Clicks was an extremely gratifying experience, where we had the opportunity to meet other entrepreneurs with whom we could exchange experiences. It was an honour to be declared winners and the prize money will be used to make CardMobili an even better service for retailers and consumers.”

Mário Vaz, Vodafone Portugal’s Chief Commercial Officer – Consumer, said: “In the name of Vodafone Portugal I would like to congratulate CardMobili for their victory in this competition. Vodafone is proud of its contribution towards the development of ideas and skills of programmers and companies, and will continue to support innovative national projects within the scope of the Mobile Internet.”

The community of Portuguese developers and start-ups is increasingly earning itself an international reputation, given that its projects have shown an excellent level of quality and talent, as borne out by the prizes won in international contests recently launched by Vodafone. In the previous competition in this area – Vodafone App Star – the winner of the international contest was the Portuguese programmer Pedro Campos with the App FlickrShow.
