Lisbon, 2 November 2011 – Vodafone Portugal, in partnership with Muchbeta, is to organise “Hackafone powered by Vodafone App Factory”, an event aimed at apps developers (iOS and Android) who wish to share their best ideas, develop them and bring them to market with the support of the two organisations.

With this initiative, Vodafone is aiming to encourage the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of Portuguese apps developers by guaranteeing in advance not only the realisation of the best projects submitted but also great success potential in the market following their publication. Vodafone and Muchbeta will provide all the support needed to finish the development of the app and to actively promote it in the market after its release.

The event will take place in Afurada (Vila Nova de Gaia) on 18 November, starting at 6:00 pm. To participate, developers should send in an application via the event website (http://hackafone.muchbeta.com) and be prepared, during the following 18 hours, to create and present a prototype to a jury which in the final will select the two best concepts which, as well as going on to production, each will win a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

This initiative further reinforces Vodafone’s presence in the developer and start-up communities as a proactive company and a driving force for entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives which demonstrate the high quality of the projects produced in Portugal in the mobile content area.
