Lisbon, 17 November 2011 – Vodafone Portugal, in yet another ‘powered by Vodafone App Factory’ initiative and in partnership with Nokia, is bringing to Portugal for the first time one of the biggest apps presentation events in the world – AppCircus (http://appcircus.com/) – which has already been staged in over 50 cities around the world and will now be held in Lisbon.

This event aims to bring together the best Portuguese apps programmers to demonstrate their creations before a jury of experts in the mobile technology industry and in the presence of an audience interested in learning about the latest and best apps creations.

Any programmer, whether an individual or connected to a start-up or other organisation can enter an App developed by him or her for any operating system in AppCircus. The 10 best entries will then be selected to take the stage and be presented on 16 December, starting at 6:30 pm, in the Auditorium of the Head Office of Vodafone Portugal at Parque das Nações in Lisbon.

The app that obtains the highest score from the jury will be entered in a knock-out round to choose the top 20 apps from all the AppCircuses in 2011, which will compete for the Mobile Premier Award at the Barcelona Mobile World Congress in February 2012. The winner will also be awarded a prize by Vodafone, and there will be a special Nokia prize for the best app running on the Symbian or S40 operating systems.

To participate, programmers simply need to send an entry to the event’s website: http://appcircus.com/event/appcircus-in-lisbon by the end of 2 December. The event is also open to non-selected candidates, as well as anyone wishing to just watch.
