Vodafone television service introduces innovative features
Lisbon, 4 April 2011 Vodafone Portugal today launched a number of new interactive features for Vodafone Casa TV, including a ‘Traffic’ service (the only one featuring images from traffic cameras), a Games application (with the possibility of watching TV and gaming at the same time) and the feature to Share what the user is watching via Facebook, e-mail or MMS.
Reinforcing its commitment to the convergence of services across platforms (TV, mobile and computer), Vodafone is introducing the feature to ‘Share’ television content with friends on the users Facebook wall, or by a message sent to an e-mail address or by MMS to a mobile phone number. Users can instantly and intuitively share the TV programme they are watching or recording, the schedule of programmes and films available on Video store or the Video store film they are watching, with the opportunity to insert additional text in the message.
The new Games feature enables any Vodafone Casa TV customer to watch television while playing Mastermind, Sudoku or Solitaire, for example. Another novelty is the ‘News Stand’ feature which provides personalised access to the covers of leading newspapers and magazines, arranged by category, and with the possibility of defining a list of favourite publications.
Vodafone has also just launched for its Vodafone Casa TV customers the most comprehensive traffic reports service provided by an IPTV operator in Portugal. The ‘Traffic’ feature provides access to traffic conditions and images from traffic cameras on the main routes throughout Portugal. To enable users to go directly to their preferred routes, the feature allows a list of favourite cameras to be defined.
All these features are free for customers of Vodafones digital TV service (available via both ADSL and Fibre) and extend the list of features available on the Vodafone Casa TV service: Facebook, Picasa, Weather, Games of Chance, Pharmacies, News, Traffic, Games, News Stand, Share, Digital Recorder (via TV, PC or mobile), with recording of programmes on any TV Box at no additional charge, over 2000 films in the VideoClube service (accessible on TV, PC or mobile), TV Guide, Pause TV, Catch-Up TV and Coming on TV.
The Vodafone Casa TV offers over 120 television channels (including 14 HD channels and one 3D channel) and a Basic Package of over 70 channels which include Portuguese viewers favourite channels.
