Vodafone Protect helps find lost mobile phones
Vodafone Portugal today launched a service – Vodafone Protect – that helps to find and lock mobile phones and remotely wipe the personal content from them from a PC.
To take advantage of this service, which is available for Android smartphones and BlackBerries and which was developed in partnership with McAfee, Vodafone customers simply need to download the app by sending a free SMS to 12345 containing the word ‘PROTECT’.
Once the app has been installed on their phone, customers can go to on a PC and view information on their phone’s location. They can also lock it so that others cannot use it, make it sound an alarm if they think the lost phone is nearby, and wipe their personal content (SMS, photos, videos, etc.) to protect their privacy. All these features are free.
This launch reinforces Vodafone’s differentiation as the most innovative and most customer-oriented Portuguese telecommunications operator, while maintaining its focus on developing and introducing useful and competitive services.
