Ciberdúvidas da Língua Portuguesa

Vodafone Portugal Foundation develops app for smartphones

Users can now ask everyday questions about the Portuguese language simply and quickly using a free app funded and developed by the Vodafone Portugal Foundation for smartphones with iOS and Android operating systems. The content is provided by the website www.ciberduvidas.pt – the leading source on the correct use of the Portuguese language which has been answering questions about the language for the last 16 years.

The Ciberdúvidas app allows users on any mobile network to find answers to their queries about the Portuguese language by searching the archive of answers provided by teachers of Portuguese and other language specialists. Users also can put specific questions to the Ciberdúvidas experts. Another function included in the app is the ability to consult featured articles and the past week’s answers.

In addition to providing free answers to all queries about Portuguese in line with the Orthographic Agreement of 1945 or the new Agreement of 1990 – which now amount to a repository of some thirty thousand answers – Ciberdúvidas includes three thousand research and discussion papers, literary texts and opinion articles, commentaries, criticism and debates about language matters ranging from teaching to literature, and from a Terminological Dictionary to the Orthographic Agreement.

Ciberdúvidas is a resource aimed at defending and promoting Portuguese language and culture which contributes to the promotion of the cultural values of the eight Portuguese-speaking countries. The Vodafone Portugal Foundation has supported this project since 2005, helping to maintain its Internet presence and is now offering its content via an innovative, easy to use and readily accessible platform.

Simultaneously with the launch of this mobile application by the Vodafone Portugal Foundation, Ciberdúvidas da Língua Portuguesa has refreshed its website to mark its 16th anniversary.
