Vodafone Portugal makes changes to Executive Committee

Vodafone Portugal has announced two changes to the composition of its Executive Committee, effective as of today, 1 July.

João Nascimento replaces Livio Borgogno as CTO and Mário Vaz temporarily takes over the role of João Mendes Dias in the Corporate Business Unit.

Livio Borgogno has completed his term of office in Portugal, where he has been for the last five years. He was instrumental in transforming Vodafone Portugal into a convergent company, leading projects of great importance like the expansion of the fibre network, the modernisation of the mobile network and the launch of 4G.

The Technology area of Vodafone will be headed from now on by João Nascimento.  In the company since 1997, Vodafone’s new CTO has occupied several technology-related roles in recent years and since 2013 he has had the responsibility of leading the European ‘Services Design and Development’ team in the Vodafone Group. In this area he has contributed to the consolidation and harmonisation of Vodafone services in Europe and to the development of the television service. Among other projects, he headed Vodafone TV Hub – Vodafone’s Global TV Development Centre based in Lisbon.

In the Corporate Business Unit, Mário Vaz has temporarily added the role of João Mendes Dias. During his career at Vodafone Portugal, João Mendes Dias headed the Product Development and Management department, the Consumer Business Unit, the Brand Directorate and during the last eight years he headed the whole of the Corporate area of Vodafone Portugal.

Throughout his 21-year relationship with Vodafone Portugal which is now ending, and in the various areas where he worked, João Mendes Dias left an indelible mark. His highly developed sense of responsibility and professionalism, coupled with his collaborative attitude and ability to motivate teams, and his agility in adapting to new challenges and implementing them, contributed decisively to the Vodafone Portugal culture.
