Vodafone and Sony Pictures join forces to promote digital skills in young people

Sony Pictures joins Vodafone’s mission to help 10 million young people to access digital skills and job opportunities by 2022.
  • The new film “Spider-Man: In the Spider-Man Universe” will be used to present the Future Jobs Finder platform to young people
  • Future Jobs Finder is a Vodafone platform which links digital skills and future career opportunities

Vodafone and Sony Pictures today announced a worldwide collaboration to help 10 million young people around the world develop their digital skills. Underlying this partnership is the online platform launched by Vodafone in March this year, Future Jobs Finder, which is designed to suggest new digital jobs and future career opportunities reflecting the skills and profile of each individual.

The Future Jobs Finder will be communicated to young people through an association with the movie “Spider-Man: In the Spider-Man Universe”, which is being released in Portuguese cinemas on 13 December. The digital campaign that attracts young people to this programme will make use of the film’s central theme: anyone can reach their full potential with the right skills and support. “Don’t do as I do, do as you would do”, is one of the most memorable scenes in the film, representing the moment when Peter Parker inspires Miles, the main character, to fulfil his own destiny.

Joakim Reiter, the Vodafone Group’s Head of External Affairs said: “Our ambition is to help 10 million young people gain access to digital skills, learning and new job opportunities, and our partnership with Sony Pictures will help us reach that goal. The Future Jobs Finder platform was specifically designed to help young adults establish the link between their skills and new digital careers. Together, we can harness the power of technology and the enthusiasm generated by the film to engage young people and help them realise their potential”.

“We are very excited about this film, because it is visually innovative and because, for the first time, we get to know the Spider Universe, where more than one person can wear the mask. Within this world we present the Brooklyn teenager, Miles Morales who, like many young people, is preparing for the next stage of his life. With this partnership we are helping Vodafone to build a bridge between young people, digital jobs and training in new skills”, explained Andre Seddoh, Vice President of International Marketing Partnerships at Sony Pictures.

Since its launch in March of this year, more than 300,000 young people have used the Future Jobs Finder platform and have been exposed to more than one million different digital jobs. The online platform leads users through a series of short tests developed by psychologists, career specialists and training providers to identify their skills and interests. By responding to these questions, young people can understand their potential and find local job opportunities in real time in a variety of digital industries that match their skills, as well as access to free training.
