Cyberattack on Vodafone Portugal

Vodafone is experiencing a network outage which began last night on February 7, 2022 due to a deliberate and malicious cyberattack with the intention to cause damage and disruption. When the first sign of an issue was detected in our network, we immediately took action to identify and contain damage, and restore services. The outage is affecting the provision of services based on a data network, namely, 4G/5G network, fixed voice services, Television, SMS and voice/digital customer care services.

We have now recovered mobile voice services almost throughout the country and have mobile data services available exclusively over the 3G network. Disruptions to the system will continue throughout the day as a result of the cyberattack.

As it is certain that the in-depth investigation of the criminal act to which we were subjected will continue for an unforeseen period, involving the competent authorities, we do not have, for the time being, any indications that our Customer’s data were accessed or compromised.

We remain absolutely determined to restore the normality of services in the shortest possible time and we deeply regret the inconvenience caused to our customers. Vodafone has an experienced team of cyber security professionals, who in consultation with the relevant authorities, are conducting a thorough investigation to understand what happened and to correct the situation. We will provide service updates as the situation progresses.
