Telecel and Portugal Telecom Close on Interconnect and Leased Lines Prices
After negotiations, Telecel agreed with Portugal Telecom on the Interconnect and Leased Lines prices, which will be used during 1998.
The new prices are subject to final validation from Instituto das Comunicações de Portugal (ICP) and are retroactive to 01 January 1998, for Interconnection, and to 01 February 1998, for Leased Lines.
Telecel estimates that the cost decrease, in both cases, will be between 10% and 15% from 1997 prices.
With this agreement, the interconnect prices charged by Portugal Telecom are closer to those in other countries of the European Union, as well as to the values recommended under the terms of the various European Commission Directives.
