Telecel Vodafone is making available, exclusively in Portugal, HSCSD (High Speed Circuit Switched Data), a technology that offers a marked improvement in data transmission speeds.

Internet access and Mobile Data are the services that will benefit the most from this new technology. In Internet terms, the technology retains all the characteristics of a normal connection but at much higher speeds, making the service faster and more efficient.

The technology is now available in those areas of the country with higher data traffic intensity. Handsets compatible with this new technology (Nokia 6210, Ericsson R520 and Nokia CardPhone 2) are already being distributed in the Portuguese market, permitting connection speeds of up to 43.2 kbps, nearly 5 times faster than current GSM technology.

HSCSD will be offered to Regular Tariff Plan customers at an additional charge of 15 escudos (0.07 euros) per minute on top of the applicable data communications rate. Given the reduction – of up to ¼ – in communication time offered by this new technology, this rate will make data transmission much cheaper for customers.

HSCSD is a data transmission technology exclusive to the Telecel Vodafone network, and makes its product range in this area more complete and flexible.
