Next Vodafone Flash Concert brings Fingertips to Évora

Lisbon, 9 May 2007 – Fingertips are the next band to perform live on, at 10 pm on 17 May at the Colégio Espírito Santo football park, in one of a series of Vodafone Flash Concerts designed to share the music of Portuguese bands with the people of cities the length and breadth of Portugal.

As with the two previous concerts, by Fonzie (Aveiro, 19 April), who performed their new album ‘Shout It Out’ live for the first time, and Mesa (Porto, 20 April), thousands of people are expected to attend. At each concert, Vodafone offers four fans the chance to meet members of the band.

Part of the Vodafone Music project, the Flash Concerts involve mounting a different show at each venue in a ‘flash’ operation, setting up and taking down the stage – a truck – on the day of the performance. Apart from Fingertips who will be performing in Évora, future concerts will bring Loto, Mundo Secreto and Expensive Soul, to Braga (18 May, 10 pm, Praça da República), Faro (8 August) and Portimão (9 August) respectively.

The Vodafone Music project aims to bring music fans together with Portuguese artists by setting up and producing original music events. During 2007, the project plans to mount initiatives that will bring music to the main entertainment venues all over the country. In addition to the Vodafone Flash Concerts, Vodafone Music includes Vodafone House Party, a party in a luxury house with a private concert by Blasted Mechanism for the winners of a competition, and Vodafone SoundClash!, an innovative event bringing together GNR, The Gift, Boss AC and Blasted Mechanism face-to-face on two stages which should provide unprecedented moments of interaction. To finish the year, it is planned to present awards in various categories to Portuguese musicians at the Vodafone Mobile Music Awards.

Through this project, Vodafone is pursuing its strategy of associating itself with the most important music events in Portugal and reinforcing its links to music, as it did with its sponsorship of The Gift’s tour and the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2005 and Rock in Rio Lisbon in 2004 and 2006. Vodafone’s association with Rock in Rio 2008 is already confirmed.
