Vodafone customers can now use their phones on board TAP aircrafts

Lisbon, 2 July 2008 – As from 1 July 2008, Vodafone Portugal is making its mobile communications services available on board TAP aircrafts, following the signature of a roaming agreement with the operator OnAir.

Initially, the service is available on a TAP aircraft (Airbus A319) connecting Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Madeira and the Azores with several European cities. The Vodafone communications available on board include voice, SMS, GPRS data and MMS.

Vodafone Portugal’s mobile communications services have been available on board an Air France aircraft since December 2007 (SMS, GPRS data and MMS) and March 2008 (voice calls).

On-board mobile services are expected to be extended progressively to cover more aircraft and other airlines.

Vodafone Portugal customers are currently able to use their phones on the networks of 421 mobile telecommunications operators in 200 countries and autonomous territories on all continents.
