Changes in Vodafone Portugal's top management

Lisbon, 1 September 2008 – Vodafone Portugal has announced the following recent changes in its top management.

The Board of Directors has a new Finance Director, João Couto, until recently Vice President and Partner of A.T. Kearney. He was European Leader of the Intellectual Capital and Sales groups of A.T. Kearney, heading up the Iberian telecommunications team. João Couto succeeds Steve Collins, Vodafone Portugal’s CFO (Chief Financial Officer) during the last two years. Steve Collins has decided to accept a new international challenge as CFO of Vodafone Egypt.

From 3 November, Jorge Fernandes will be Vodafone Portugal’s new CTO (Chief Technology Officer). As Director of Telecommunications Systems at Vodafone UK since May 2007, Jorge Fernandes became responsible for Vodafone UK’s Core Networks in November 2006. He joined Vodafone Portugal in September 2002 as Manager of Network Operations and was Director of Network Operations and Network Engineering between January 2004 and October 2006.

Miguel Martins, CTO of Vodafone Portugal has joined a new, strategically important organisation of the Vodafone Group – Vodafone Internet Services, based in London. Miguel Martins will be the CTO of the recently created Vodafone Internet Services, which is focused on the development of Internet services for mobile phones, including IP communications, mobile Internet access, own content and mobile advertising.
