The Operations Centre in Portugal began operating in July by monitoring the network in Spain. In October it added supervision of the access network in the UK and will monitor the core network and services in Ireland by March 2013.
In July this year, Vodafone Portugal was selected to host the Atlantic NOC (Network Operations Centre) – one of only two network operations monitoring centres of the Vodafone Group in Europe.
The Atlantic NOC is located at Vodafone Portugal’s Head Office in Parque das Nações, Lisbon, where approximately 150 people work, of whom around 120 correspond to new jobs.
The recruitment phase is still ongoing and the most sought after profiles are telecommunications engineers and technicians with technical knowledge of telecommunications network equipment, willingness to work flexible hours and command of Spanish and English, among other skills.
The assignment of additional responsibilities to the Atlantic NOC confirms Vodafone Portugal’s expertise in this area and reinforces the Company’s capacity for innovation and implementation which has attracted to Portugal competence centres and launches of technologies, products and services, making it a benchmark in the Vodafone Group internationally and generating value for the Company and for Portugal.
