Vodafone takes Smart Cities to IDC Directions 2015
The 18th edition of this event will focus on analysing the key technological trends around the world and in Portugal and their future impact on Portuguese companies and organisations.
In the exhibition area, the central theme of Vodafone’s stand will be “Smart Cities”, presenting many intelligent and efficient management solutions for making cities more dynamic. Among the latest developments in the technology and innovation area for the cities of the future, Vodafone will demonstrate the solutions available for buildings, parking or traffic, all of them supported on Machine-to-Machine technology (M2M).
Vodafone retains a world leading position in this area (Gartner Magic Quadrant) and was recently rated the best M2M communications provider in the world, according to an independent study by Analysys Mason.Vodafone has invested consistently in the development of this technology, helping companies to prepare for future challenges, particularly with regard to the sustainability of their businesses and the environment.
Also as part of the conference, Vodafone and IDC Portugal will host an Executive Lunch devoted to Smart Cities & IoT. Speakers will include Sofia Mendes, Head of Corporate and Public Sector at Vodafone Portugal, and Roberta Bigliani, Associate Vice President of ICD Energy Insights.
IDC predicts that by 2020 all economic sectors worldwide will be led by organisations and companies with a strong presence in the digital economy and believes that this could provide an improved experience for customers, increase operational efficiency and lead to innovation in business models.
