Vodafone to give away tickets to Rock in Rio Lisboa

Lisbon, 15 March 2006 – Vodafone will be organising a competition between 20 and 30 March at six Metro stations in Lisbon and Oporto, the prizes for which will be handed out at the Rock in Rio 2006 festival.

The competition consists of two singing duels to take place at Bolhão and Trindade stations in Oporto and Cais do Sodré, Alameda, Campo Grande and Cidade Universitária in Lisbon.

During this period, Vodafone will have a backing band that will play Mobile Music themes (tunes that can be found on the Vodafone live! portal) in the Metro stations during the rush hours for entrants who will have to sing in duels lasting approximately two minutes. The winner will be decided by the organisers on the basis of his or her musical performance at the time.

Each entrant will be able to take part in one duel a day until he or she wins their first prize. From then on, the winner will not be able to compete again. 50 Rock in Rio tickets will be given away every day but all entrants will receive prizes for taking part.

The Vodafone Mobile Music duels will take place between 8:30 am and 10:00 am (16 duels), between 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm (17 duels) and between 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm (17 duels) at the following Metro stations:

20 March: Bolhão, Oporto
21 March: Trindade, Oporto
27 March: Cais do Sodré, Lisbon
28 March: Alameda, Lisbon
29 March: Campo Grande, Lisbon
30 March: Cidade Universitária, Lisbon

This initiative is part of a range of actions intended to promote, in an innovative, differentiating way, Vodafone’s link to Rock in Rio, the most important music event to take place in Portugal in 2006. The initiative is also a vehicle for spreading the musicality and enjoyment associated with Rock in Rio to the general public, thereby widening the festival’s sphere of influence.
