Vodafone Music presents GNR, The Gift, Boss AC and Blasted Mechanism at the Pavilhão Atlântico

Lisbon, 4 September 2007 – Continuing Vodafone’s support for Portuguese music this year, 7 September will see the Pavilhão Atlântico hosting Vodafone SoundClash!.

Vodafone SoundClash! is a music event produced in an innovative format bringing together major Portuguese artists playing Portuguese music face-to-face on two stages.

GNR, The Gift, Boss AC and Blasted Mechanism will perform and interact to make for a totally unprecedented concert. After playing their own programme, the bands will play the final number of their performance together, leading to moments of interaction between the musicians and handing on the concert to the next band. At 7 pm, Henrique Amaro will kick off this celebration with a special warm-up composed solely of Portuguese music. To finish in style, the DJ Dezperados will perform Portuguese sonic music on an original set designed specially for this event.

Tickets to Vodafone SoundClash! were given away in a competition held on www.vodafone.pt between 7 and 28 August. At certain times during the 21 days, Vodafone gave away double tickets to those who correctly answered questions about the bands performing at the concert posed by the artists themselves in previously recorded videoclips, as a form of interaction between the fans and the artists.

Vodafone SoundClash! is one of a range of initiatives mounted as part of the Vodafone Music project which aims to bring music fans together with Portuguese artists by setting up and producing original music events. In this way, Vodafone plans to introduce Portuguese artists to a wider public by establishing a closer association with the brand through the promotion of innovative and different music events.

In April, May and August, music hit the streets with the Vodafone Flash Concerts which took 6 Portuguese artists (Fonzie, Mesa, Fingertips, Loto, Mundo Secreto and Expensive Soul) to 6 of the country’s cities (Aveiro, Oporto, Évora, Braga, Faro and Albufeira).

In July, the Vodafone House Party provided an unforgettable programme for the winners of a competition and their guests: a unique party in a luxury house with a live concert by Blasted Mechanism.
