These initiatives are part of a range of actions designed by Vodafone to promote in an innovative way its connection with Rock in Rio Lisbon, the biggest music event in Portugal in 2008. At the beginning of March, it set up three gigantic Vodafone Guitars in Lisbon (2ª Circular and Praça de Espanha) and Porto (Praça do Molhe Av. Montevideu), showing the countdown to the festivals opening and giving information about the event and how to win the tickets offered by the brand. In March and April, Vodafone gave away 500 tickets to Rock in Rio Lisbon 2008 to the winners of the Vodafone Live & Go! duels held at various Metro stations in Lisbon and Porto and at prominent sites in a number of cities in Portugal (Aveiro, Braga, Coimbra, Covilhã, Évora and Santarém). Last Saturday, 12 April, it organised a Flash Dance with the DJ Vibe in Porto, at which it distributed gifts and tickets to the festival to some of the many hundreds of participants.
Vodafone is the official sponsor of Rock in Rio 2008, continuing its association with the biggest music events in Portugal such as Rock in Rio Lisbon in 2004 and 2006 and the MTV Europe Music Awards Lisbon in 2005.
