Vodafone launches the HTC 7 Trophy – a Windows 7 smartphone – exclusively in Portugal

Lisbon, 11 October 2010 – On the same day that Microsoft announced the release of Windows Phone 7, Vodafone launched the HTC 7 Trophy, one of the first smartphones in the world to be launched with this new operating system. This Vodafone exclusive is designed with mobile entertainment in mind and makes use of the integration of Zune and Xbox LIVE in Windows Phone 7, but does not omit professional features.

The new HTC 7 Trophy offers capacitative touch navigation customisable to the user’s preferences by means of an interface that allows rapid updating of all the information that users wish to access on a smartphone: messages, updates on social networks and direct access to the “My Web” portal, where customers can download exclusive apps on Windows Marketplace via HTC Hub. This smartphone also enables the use of Live Tiles, buttons exclusive to Windows Phone 7 which can be customised to users’ personal preferences and which are automatically updated via the Internet connection.

Ideal for staying in touch with friends, the HTC 7 Trophy includes extended support for games and entertainment. It also has a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash capable of capturing those special moments in high-quality photos or high resolution videos (720p).

One of the highlighted new features in this Windows Phone is integration with Zune and Xbox LIVE, providing access to music content and games, respectively. With 8 GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi and synchronisation functionality with Windows, the HTC 7 Trophy benefits from the latest Dolby Mobile and SRS WOW HD sound and video technologies to exponentially enhance the multimedia experience.

Access to Xbox LIVE gives Vodafone customers access to great titles from Microsoft’s game console and many of the world’s most popular games. The 1GHz Snapdragon processor offers unprecedented game fluidity and immersion. In addition, Vodafone customers can try out games before buying them, create avatars to associate with an Xbox LIVE account and play in multiplayer mode with players on another phone or PC.

For professional users, the HTC 7 Trophy offers integration of the new Office Mobile 2010 which includes an e-mail experience identical to that of PCs complemented by the ability to view, edit and share Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.

The HTC July Trophy will be available to Vodafone Portugal customers before the end of October.
