Vodafone dares the Portuguese to dance for a ticket to Rock in Rio-Lisboa

“Dance Battles” to tour Portugal until 28 March

Lisbon, 16 March 2010 – “Dance and get to Rock in Rio” is the slogan of the challenge Vodafone Portugal has launched as official sponsor of Rock in Rio-Lisboa 2010 with its “Dance Battles” initiative. These “dance duels”, which put two competitors head to head, will visit Lisbon, Porto and Faro between now and 28 March, rewarding the winners with tickets to Rock in Rio-Lisboa, which starts on 21 May in Belavista Park.

Passers-by wanting to take part begin by signing up on the spot. After selecting a song from a predefined list, they just have to dance to the sound of their chosen rhythm. For two minutes, the competitors have to do their best to convince the audience gathered in the street that their artistic abilities deserve a ticket to one of the days of Rock in Rio-Lisboa.

The Vodafone “Dance Battles” began at 8:30 am yesterday at Gare do Oriente, and were repeated at 1:00 and 5:30 pm. The initiative takes place again tomorrow at São Sebastião Metro Station, tomorrow at Cais do Sodré and on 18 March at Alameda, all at the same times. In Porto, the “Dance Battles” are scheduled for 22, 23 and 24 March at Bolhão, São Bento Station and Trindade respectively. Faro will host the initiative at the Fórum Algarve on 27 and 28 March at 1:00 pm and 5:30 pm. (Full list on the following page).

Next week, Vodafone will giving away more tickets to Rock in Rio-Lisboa in competitions on the Mega Hits and RFM radio stations.
