Vodafone Portugal launches fibre offer with television and Internet at speeds up to 300 Mbps

Lisbon, 15 June 2010 – Vodafone Portugal today announced the introduction of its fixed ‘triple play’ service – voice, Internet and TV – based on its own optical fibre network.

Known as Vodafone Casa com Fibra, this new ‘triple play’ service offers Internet access speed of up to 300 Mbps (the fastest on the Portuguese market) and high definition television for an unlimited number of television sets in the house without additional costs.

At this launch stage, Vodafone Casa com Fibra is already available in certain areas of Lisbon and Almada municipalities, to be extended in the short term to other adjacent urban areas, including Cascais, Oeiras and Sintra municipalities as well as the city of Porto. It is expected to reach 200,000 homes in Greater Lisbon and Porto.

In addition to building this next generation network (NGN), Vodafone is working to conclude partnership agreements with other owners of NGNs, in addition to the previously announced partnership with Sonaecom, which would enable the fibre optic offer to be provided to other urban areas of the country, with the aim of providing the fibre ‘triple play’ offer to more than one million homes in Portugal.

In the areas where Vodafone today launched its Vodafone Casa com Fibra offer, a promotional campaign will be launched called ‘First Subscriptions’, offering exclusive terms for customers who subscribe by 31 August 2010: TV, Internet and telephone from €29.90 a month and with the opportunity to try it without obligation during the first 3 months.

With the launch of this fibre optic next generation network (NGN) to its customers’ homes (FTTH – Fibre To The Home), Vodafone is taking another important step to reinforce its strategy as a global telecommunications operator capable of meeting all its customers’ communication needs.
