Vodafone Portugal launches contacts backup for smartphones
Lisbon, 8 November 2011 Vodafone Portugal today launched Vodafone Contacts on Android Market exclusively for its customers. Vodafone Contacts is a new service for Android smartphones that allows customers to maintain an up-to-date copy of their address book in a very easy and secure way.
Accessible from a phone or PC, Vodafone Contacts enables the automatic backup of customers address books and keeps them online in a completely secure way.
On PCs, via Vodafone’s website (http://vodafonecontactos.vodafone.pt), in addition to adding, editing and deleting their contacts, customers can import contacts from other accounts such as Gmail and Exchange and synchronise them with their mobile phone.
The app for smartphones, as well as being available on Android Market, can also be downloaded by sending a free SMS to 12345 with the word ‘CONTACTOS’.
There is no subscription or joining fee for the service. Customers simply have to use the Internet on their phone to synchronise contacts. The connection can be made via Vodafone’s mobile network or via Wi-Fi.
Vodafone Contacts is available at this stage for Android smartphones and is planned to be available for other mobile operating systems shortly.
With this launch, Vodafone is further strengthening its focus on mobile-PC convergence, enabling its customers to use the services they value irrespective of how they access them.
