Vodafone Portugal launches the Nexus S – the first phone with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
Lisbon, 28 February 2011 Vodafone is the first operator to offer Google’s new Nexus S in Portugal. This is the first smartphone in the world with the latest Android platform for smartphones known as Gingerbread (Android 2.3) and comes equipped with powerful Google technology and the latest features from Samsung.
The Nexus S is the first smartphone with Contour Display. The screen has a slight curvature that enables the phone to fit comfortably in the hand and along the side of the user’s face. The 4 inch, Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with oleophobic coating has a 480×800 WVGA resolution and is equipped with Super Clear LCD technology which features brighter colours and higher contrast.
With a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor paired with 16 GB of internal memory, the Nexus S is one of the fastest phones on the market. It also boasts a 5 megapixel camera with Auto Focus and LED flash, a music and HD media player, A-GPS, WiFi b/n, DLNA and Bluetooth 3.0.
The Nexus S provides access to over 100,000 apps, games and widgets on Android Market and comes with numerous Google apps preinstalled, including Google Search, Google Maps with Navigation (Beta), Mobile Instant, Gmail and Google Earth.
Now on sale in Portugal, the Nexus S can be purchased for 499.90 in Vodafone shops, with a 10 discount in the online shop or at a lower price under a 24-month contract on a ‘Best’ plan. It is also available to businesses and professionals who will benefit from business tariff incentives under a 24-month contract.
