Vodafone Portugal Foundation launches ‘World of Difference’ programme for qualified professionals

Lisbon, 26 July 2011 – The Vodafone Portugal Foundation today launched ‘World of Difference’ – an innovative programme whose aim is to fund the secondment of qualified professionals to social and charitable institutions.

In this initial phase, ‘World of Difference’ will place six qualified professionals, with pay, to work in two charities and two municipal organisations.

Applications to join the programme can be made until 12 August, exclusively on the website that the Vodafone Portugal Foundation has created for the purpose at wod.vodafone.pt.

The vacancies currently available are: Nurse, Occupational Therapist and Administrative Coordinator at Setúbal Municipal Council’s ‘Health Space’; Computer Technician at Odivelas Municipal Council; Communication and Fundraising Assistant with Operation Red Nose; and Computer Technician with the Portuguese Victims Support Association (APAV). These organisations will be joined by others at a later stage of the project.

The selection of candidates is the exclusive responsibility of the organisation proposing the role for participation in the programme.

To date, ‘World of Difference’, managed by Vodafone Foundations around the world, has been implemented in 20 different countries and placed more than 1500 people in these labour markets.

This first edition of ‘World of Difference’ in Portugal involves total investment of approximately 150,000 euros and will be the focus of a press publicity campaign.
