Vodafone Portugal and ZON Lusomundo Cinemas today launched an innovative m-ticketing service that enables users to buy and receive cinema tickets via their mobile phone, and gain entry to over 200 ZON Lusomundo cinema screens all over Portugal.

The ‘Vodafone m.Ticket powered by ZON Lusomundo’ service is available via an app for Android and iPhone smartphones, or via the mobile website mticket.vodafone.pt.

From their mobile phone, any user (on any operator’s network) can now buy cinema tickets anytime, anywhere, and immediately obtain a ticket that gives them direct entry to ZON Lusomundo cinemas screens without the need to queue at the box office. The service offers special prices to Vodafone customers on the purchase of cinema tickets.

After selecting the film and performance they wish to attend and the number of tickets they want, users simply need to pay via MB Phone or credit card. Once payment has been validated, the user receives the ticket immediately in the form of an SMS with a unique code which permits entry to the cinema screen on the day and time of the performance via a reader installed in the cinema screen lobby.

This service does away with the traditional ticket, providing a simple and innovative user experience in the form of an e-ticket on the phone. It also enables e-tickets to be sent to family and friends by simply forwarding a text message (each SMS is worth one ticket).

With the development of this innovative and easy to use service, Vodafone is diversifying the solutions offered to its customers to make their daily lives easier through the use of the mobile phone as an alternative to traditional means of entry to events.

ZON Lusomundo Cinemas has invested in programmes in its digital cinema screens to widen the audience through the exhibition of a varied range of content. The launch of this service creates alternative sales channels, makes going to the cinema simpler and makes it possible to give tickets to friends via SMS.
