This technological innovation will provide improved user experience, making it possible, for example, to open a web page instantly and download a 1GB video in Ultra HD/4K in about 15 seconds.
The 600Mbps speed was achieved using the bandwidth of three aggregated 60MHz frequency bands with the new 256QAM modulation which, in good radio conditions, enables an increase of up to 30% in the current downlink speed.
The tests were performed in a laboratory environment in partnership with Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. With this development, Vodafone Portugal, which in November 2014 was also the first to conduct tests at 450Mbps, is taking a further step on the way to 5G – the mobile network of the future.
