The match of the 2017 Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup which takes place in Aveiro on 5 August between SL Benfica and Vitória SC (8:45 pm on RTP1), will be a charity event in favour of Portuguese firefighters.

Vodafone, the Principal Sponsor of the competition for the third consecutive year, the Portuguese Football Federation, Sport Lisboa e Benfica and Vitória Sport Clube have joined forces to provide the ‘soldiers of peace’ with more and better resources for carrying out their mission.

The objective of this initiative is to raise funds to buy a forest fire-fighting vehicle, which will be delivered to the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Figueiró dos Vinhos. As well as this municipality, in the event of need the vehicle will also be shared with the municipalities of Pedrogão Grande and Castanheira de Pera.

In addition to the contribution donated by the bodies organising the event, this initiative will also enable the public to be involved by buying tickets, which will go on sale this Friday, 21 July. For each ticket sold, €1 will go to this cause.

The fundraising is based on some of the incidents in the game, which will attract certain sums:

  • €5000 for each goal scored (*excludes penalty shootouts)
  • €1500 for each shot at goal
  • €1500 for each corner
  • €1000 for each ball recovery
  • €100 for each attack
  • €100 for each cross

After the end of the Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup, the official match report issued by the PFF will determine the amount collected with the incidents, which will be donated by Vodafone, PFF and the clubs, which will be added to the public’s contribution from the sale of tickets.

Tickets, priced at €16, €21 or €26, can be purchased at the clubs’ usual places of sale and at the ticket office of Aveiro Municipal Stadium.
