Vodafone Foundation raises awareness about risky behavior on Portuguese beaches
Carcavelos beach was the scene chosen for the launch of a further edition of the Vodafone Portugal Foundation’s “Verão de Campeão” campaign, in which around 800 children took part. The campaign, which began on 18 June, is organised in partnership with the Directorate-General of the Maritime Authority and the Portuguese Lifeboat Institution, and will raise awareness among children and young people in the areas of safety, environment, accessibility and health on Portuguese beaches throughout Portugal until 9 August.
In order to capture the interest of young people, various activities are being organised such as games illustrating the risks caused by carelessness on the beaches, and information is also given about how to stay safe on beaches through simple and fun educational activities.
In the last 12 years, these awareness campaigns have directly reached approximately 300,000 children and young people.
This year, the campaign will visit Oeiras, Costa da Caparica, Fonte da Telha, Caldas da Rainha, Matosinhos and the Algarve, among other beaches.
