Vodafone Foundation and Instituto Português do Sangue e da Transplantação develop an alarm system to support the Portuguese Record of Transplantation

  • The system’s goal is to contribute to the efficacy of the transmission of information in the different steps of the transplantation process, supporting health professionals connected to transplantation

Vodafone Portugal Foundation and Instituto Português do Sangue e da Transplantação are developing together a project supported in the new communication technologies. The goal is to optimize the transmission of information regarding the different steps of the transplantation chain.

The harvest and transplantation of organs are activities that involve a complex ecosystem with many parties involved, who integrate the National Network of Harvesting and Transplantation: doctors, nurses and harvest and transplantation coordinators who perform multiple tasks that can happen in different physical spaces. In this sense, the app will allow these teams to receive notifications regarding the evolution of the transplantation process in real time.

This App was developed with the goal of improving the articulation in the transmission of information regarding the different stages, from the Portuguese Record of Transplantation.

The app will allow medical, surgical and lab teams involved in the transplantation process to receive alarms in real time regarding the temporal evolution of the transplantation process. In the same way, the assistant doctors whose patients are in active lists for transplantations will also be informed regarding the evolution of the transplantation processes that are registered in the Portuguese Transplantation Records.
