Telecel expands coverage in the Azores

The coverage of Telecel in the Azores was recently expanded to Ilha Graciosa, where two Base Stations were installed. At the same time coverage in the centre of the city of Ponta Delgada, in the island of S. Miguel, was strengthened, following the targets of reinforcement in the plan of coverage defined by Telecel for the year of 1999.

Since the beginning of this year, Telecel has come to expand and strengthen its coverage in the Azores, having already installed 12 Base Stations to reinforce the coverage in the Island of São Miguel (Nordeste and Relva), in São Jorge (Velas and Calheta), in Pico (Madalena and S. Roque) and in Faial (Espalhafatos), among others localities.

Initiated in 1997, Telecel’s network in the Autonomous Region of the Azores covered initially great part of the Islands of S. Miguel and Terceira and also areas of Horta, in Faial and Madalena in Pico. At this moment Telecel’s network is already present in almost all the Islands of the Autonomous Region, foreseeing until the final of the year the coverage of all the archipelago.

These new developments in Telecel coverage represent the company focus in differentiating itself both in capacity and high quality of its network, in all the domestic territory, Continent and the Autonomous Regions of Madeira and Azores.
