Lisbon, 7 December 2011 Vodafone Portugal is set to launch the Galaxy Nexus in Portugal on Friday 9 December. This phone is the result of a partnership between Google and Samsung to produce the first smartphone in the world with Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, the most recent version of the Android platform.
The Galaxy Nexus features a 4.65 screen with Super AMOLED HD technology and a resolution of 720p (1280×720), together with a dual core 1.2GHz processor and HSPA connectivity. The Galaxy Nexus incorporates a redesigned camera with panoramic mode, Full HD video capture, zero shutter lag, a range of effects and background replacement.
Following in the mould of the original Contour Display of the Nexus S, the Galaxy Nexus has a rounded format which fits perfectly in the palm of the hand or against the face when making calls. The Hyperskin back improves the phones ergonomic feel and anti-slip properties. At only 8.94 mm thick and with a minimum 4.29 mm bezel, the Galaxy Nexus has excellent portability at the same time as having a large screen.
Ice Cream Sandwich gives a totally new image and character to Android. The user interface has been redesigned, with improved multifunctions, notifications, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, NFC support and full internet browsing experience. The Galaxy Nexus incorporates navigation buttons in the software and phone unlocking using face recognition, both new features on Android smartphones.
The Galaxy Nexus also provides unrivalled access to Google services, including: Android Market, Gmail, Google Maps 5.0 with 3D maps and turn-by-turn navigation, Google Earth, Movie Studio, YouTube, synchronisation with Google Calendar and a redesigned Google app.
The phone is priced at 549.90 (539.90 in the Vodafone Online Shop) or from 249.90 with a 24-month contract. It is also available on special terms to professionals and companies.
The Galaxy Nexus is an exclusive Vodafone launch in Portugal and reinforces the brands continued focus on offering its customers the most complete and appealing range of smartphones in partnership with the leading handset manufacturers in the market.
