Lisbon, 16 March 2011 – Vodafone Portugal has launched Vodafone web phone for Facebook, an innovative service that allows users make and receive voice and video calls, and send and receive SMS and MMS with their Vodafone phone number, from Portugal’s favourite social network.

With this launch, Vodafone Portugal is offering, exclusively for its customers, the unprecedented ability to make and receive standard mobile phone calls from Facebook.

To use the service, users simply need to access Vodafone Portugal’s official website on Facebook (www.facebook.com/VodafonePT) and select the Vodafone web phone tab. The application is available for use on any computer, including Macs.

Vodafone web phone can also be installed from the website of Vodafone Portugal where an application is available that aggregates and makes it possible to interact with the leading social networks.

Voice calls, videocalls and chats between Vodafone web phone users are free, while other voice calls, videocalls, SMS and MMS to mobile and fixed networks are charged in accordance with the customer’s price plan.

For the launch of Vodafone web phone for Facebook, Vodafone has prepared a series of Happy Hours – free calls to any Vodafone Portugal mobile phone from Vodafone web phone – which will be automatically assigned to customers on dates to be announced.

This service, developed in partnership with the Portuguese company WIT Software, is part of Vodafone’s major investment in mobile-PC convergence, enabling its customers to use their favourite services regardless of the form of access, and with a simple and transparent experience.
