Vodafone Mexefest

Winter Festival brings the best music to Lisbon and Porto

Lisbon, 11 October 2011 – The Vodafone Mexefest will get Lisbon and Porto rocking this winter, bringing today’s best national and international music to Portugal’s two major cities. The festival will be held on 2nd and 3rd December in Lisbon and 2nd and 3rd March in Porto.

Strengthening its connection to music and in order to satisfy a demanding audience and always in step with new trends, Vodafone brings a new name, new sounds, more stages, new content and more mobility to Lisbon’s most popular winter festival, and widens the event’s scope to Porto, in response to the public’s long-expressed desire for this. The Vodafone Mexefest line-up is available at www.vodafonemexefest.com.

The details of the Lisbon event are already known, in which the festival area will be enlarged to encompass Av. da Liberdade. The decision to embrace new venues has led to the event spreading to Restauradores Metro Station, Lisbon Geography Society and the Casa do Alentejo, as well as the usual Cinema São Jorge, Teatro Tivoli, Cabaret Maxime and the Restaurante Terraço Hotel Tivoli. As well as these spaces, the Vodafone FM headquarters will be used. Vodafone shuttles will busily transport people between the venue sites, where there will be no lack of music.

In order to make it easier for the public to choose which concerts they want to go to and to help them draw up their itinerary, Vodafone is providing an innovative smartphone app that will supply information about the line-ups, venue capacity and artists’ show, locate friends on the ground, allow access to comments about the different concerts, share the public’s photographs and generally take advantage of the bigger and better festival site.

Initiatives such as the Vodafone 5 Estrelas (5-star Vodafone), in which accommodation and a private concert in a hotel on Avenida da Liberdade is on offer, and the Vodafone All Access, which gives priority entry to the different festival venues, are some of the unique experiences that Vodafone will provide for fans of this winter festival.

In addition to these innovations, Vodafone Mexefest will have more concerts by national bands in the Vodafone Bus and will allow the Vodafone Customers to buy tickets on their mobile phones (the price remains €40). Everything has been carefully planned to provide an unforgettable experience to the public and to get things rocking, stage by stage, in a landmark edition of the Vodafone Mexefest festival.
