Vodafone Portugal to launch first device with Windows 8 RT

Vodafone is to launch the first device in Portugal with Microsoft’s new operating system during November: the exclusive Asus VivoTab RT tablet, which will join the Windows Phone 8X smartphone from HTC.

The Asus VivoTab RT 3G, an exclusive Vodafone model, comes with the new Windows RT operating system and has a powerful NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor that enables a fantastic user experience of the new Windows 8.

This first device with Windows RT is the result of a close tie-up between ASUS and Microsoft which has led to the creation of one of the thinnest tablets on the market capable of supporting Windows RT. Only 8.3 mm thick and with a metallic design, it is also one of the lightest 10” tablets on the market at only 525g.

The Asus VivoTab RT is equipped with a 3G connection, allowing speeds of up to 43.2 Mbps. Vodafone is to offer a mobile dock which turns this tablet into an ultra-compact and portable phone. When used in conjunction with the dock, the tablet has a full keyboard, multitouch touchpad and USB port. The dock also has an extra battery, giving a total battery life of 16 hours.

The Windows Phone 8X from HTC is the first smartphone on sale in Portugal with Windows Phone 8. It has a 4.3″ touchscreen with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels, a 1.5 GHz dual core processor and an 8 megapixel camera.

With this launch Vodafone is extending its portfolio of devices available to customers,, continuing to provide the most advanced smartphones and innovative tablets on the market.
